J.A.W. Cooper was born in England to a South African/British mother and an American father--both freshwater ecologists. She grew up traveling for their research and professor exchanges, living in Kenya, Sweden, Ireland and traveling across Europe. J.A.W. Cooper works commercially as an illustrator and art director for TV and movie campaigns half of the month, and works on her own projects as a gleeful recluse the other half of the month. In her “free time” Cooper is a profoundly creepy, solo-camping, feral woman. She owns a machete. She knows how to build a fire.
